Privacy policy
Quang Inc. · Effective 2026-08-04
Volera helps prospective pilots in the Lower Mainland, BC choose a flight school and plan the start of their training. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, how we protect it, and the choices you have. It follows British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Questions about your privacy, or any request below, can be sent to our Privacy Officer at privacy@volera.ca.
What we collect
When you use our school-matching tool, we collect the answers you give us: your training goal, timeline, general availability, and budget range; your location — either the city you select or, if you allow it, your approximate device location, used only to measure the distance to each flight school; and whether you have done a discovery flight. If you choose to save your results, we collect your email address. We also collect basic usage information — which steps you complete, and technical details such as your browser type and how you arrived at our site — so we can improve the tool.
What we deliberately do not collect
We ask for your aviation-medical status only to tell you what to do next. We use your answer to generate your guidance in the moment and we do not store it against your identity — it is discarded once your results are produced. We never ask for medical records, diagnoses, or any underlying health details.
Your medical status, and your consent
Because medical information is sensitive, we ask for your express consent before using it, with a checkbox on the question itself. You do not have to answer — you can decline and still use the rest of the tool. If you consent, we use your status only to tailor your next-step guidance, and only for that session. You can withdraw at any time by leaving the question unanswered or closing the tool.
How we use your information
To recommend flight schools that fit your answers, to show you relevant next steps, and to improve how the tool works. We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it.
Our legal basis
We rely on your consent, as required by BC PIPA and PIPEDA. The type of consent matches the sensitivity of the information: express consent for medical status, and consent through your use of the tool for everything else. You may withdraw consent at any time, and we will tell you the consequences of doing so.
Where your information is processed
We use service providers to run Volera, including hosting and database providers located in Canada and the United States. This means your information may be processed in the United States and may be subject to that country's laws. By using Volera you consent to this processing.
How long we keep it
Medical status is not stored — it is used within your session and discarded. Your intake answers and results are kept for [retention period] and then deleted. Your email, if you provide it, is kept until you ask us to delete it. Usage data is kept in aggregate form for analysis.
Who we share it with
We share information only with service providers who help us operate Volera, under agreements that require them to protect it. If you choose to contact a flight school through a link on our site, we record that a referral happened, but we do not send the school your personal information unless you ask us to.
How we protect your information
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including encryption in transit and in storage, and access limited to those who need it. Keeping medical status out of storage entirely is part of how we protect it.
Your rights
You can ask us to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, delete it, or withdraw your consent. Contact privacy@volera.ca. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia (oipc.bc.ca) or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).
Cookies and local storage
We use only what is needed to run the tool and remember your progress. We do not use advertising cookies.
Children
Volera is not directed at children. If you are under the age of majority in your province (19 in British Columbia), please review this policy with a parent or guardian.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here with a revised effective date.
